Police in Russia's volatile North Caucasus republic of Dagestan said on Wednesday they confiscated over 120 kg (265 lbs) of explosives last year.
Terrorist attacks and shootouts with police are common in the mainly-Muslim region, which shares a border with Chechnya.
"Last year we confiscated 443 weapons, including 157 automatic weapons, 33 grenade launchers, three machine guns, 201 pistols, 49 rifles, three fire throwers, 40,000 cartridges and over 122 kg of explosive devices," a police spokesman said.
He said that the statistics did not indicate a decrease in illegal arms trafficking to the region.
Three bombs were detonated on Dagestan railroads over the weekend, causing no casualties.
