Expo 2010 in Shanghai has been open to tourists from all over the world since May 1. This new world’s fair has been attracting between 400,000 and 600,000 visitors each day.
RIA Novosti correspondent found out how these visitors are received, protected and sheltered from the heat.
Ticket prices vary from $15 to $160, depending on the number of visits and time of day. The Expo is open from 9:30 to 22:30 each day. Tickets are available at ticket offices in the city or over the internet.
To get in, visitors must spend at least an hour in line and pass through three checkpoints, where security checks each visitor’s personal bags.
Expo 2010 covers almost six square kilometers and is divided into three sections: one for Asia, one for Europe, and one for America and Africa.
Over 200 countries are represented at the international exposition, though only 49 have pavilions of their own, including Russia. Expo 2010 will be run through October 31, by which time over 70 million guests are expected to visit it.
