Princess’s crown and van Gogh’s belongings on display in Shanghai

Topic:2010 World Expo in Shanghai

Huge multimedia screens, virtual amusement rides, Golden Lady and a diamond crown: Participants of the Expo 2010 Shanghai China have presented the most significant and extraordinary achievements of their countries. Over 200 countries and international organizations are taking part in the global event. Only 49 of them have installed their own pavilions, including Russia. Each exposition is an architecture masterpiece. The 6,000-square-meter Canada Pavilion is one of the largest at the Expo 2010. It features an exhibition themed "The Living City: Inclusive, Sustainable, Creative." The exhibition is centered around a film about life in this North American country projected onto a large screen. The most popular attraction is a virtual waterfall. The visitors can change the image as they put their hands under the stream and the fountain transforms into a rainbow-colored blooming garden.
Happy Street is the presentation of the Netherlands. The Dutch pavilion is the only open-air exposition at the Expo 2010. It is built in the form of a figure eight. The ‘street’ is lined with 26 halls on both sides and on different floors. The exhibition shows personal belongings of the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh and the diamond crown of Princess Maxima.
Luxembourg’s national pavilion has a unique design: It is shaped like a medieval fortress. A castle in the woods surrounded by trees displays the country’s status of the green heart of Europe. The most valuable exhibit on display is a statue of a Golden Lady, a memorial dedicated to fallen troops from World War I. The statue was temporarily brought to Shanghai from its usual location in central Luxembourg.
