The Tula Region demonstrated its investment and tourist potential at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai on Monday, a RIA Novosti correspondent said.
During the Region's presentation in the Russian pavilion at Expo, its participants said in spite of last year's global financial crisis the Tula Region has demonstrated a steady capital increase.
"In 2009, investment in the region amounted to $2 billion, that is 5% more than the pre-crisis year level," Alexander Yevtukhov, the deputy governor of the region, said.
He also said the positive momentum of investment to the region's economy was continuing this year. In the first quarter of 2010, the investment volume in the Tula Region increased by 31.9% year-on-year.
The deputy governor said steady economic growth makes the Tula Region investment-attractive. More than 10 famous international companies are developing their business successfully there.
The 2010 World Expo in Shanghai opened on May 1 and runs until October 31. More than 200 countries, corporations and international organizations are taking part. Russia constructed a pavilion at the exhibition for the first time in 30 years.
