Ingushetia will use Russia’s pavilion at the Shanghai Expo 2010 to find Chinese investors to set up a car manufacturing plant in the North Caucasus republic, Ingush President Yunus Bek-Yevkurov said.
“We hope Chinese investors will come to our republic. They can put money into two spheres here - house building and automobile manufacturing,” Yevkurov said in an interview.
“This means a plant manufacturing Chinese cars. We are now interested in attracting investment for the construction of such a plant in our republic,” he said.
Ingushetia will present a variety of projects at the expo in the second half of October. Yevkurov plans to establish ties with Chinese partners that will allow for cheaper imports into the region and create new jobs.
The 2010 World Expo is being held in Shanghai until October 31. Up to 70 million people are expected to visit the city for the event, which has seen investment of up to $4 billion. Over 200 countries, corporations and international organizations are taking part.
Moscow constructed a pavilion at the exhibition for the first time in 30 years. The Russian pavilion is considered one of the most popular and innovative at the Expo.
