The Russian pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo welcomed its 5 millionth visitor on Saturday since its opening four months ago.

The lucky visitor was Li Rongnian, a 40-year-old engineer from Hangzhou, China’s eastern Zhejiang Province. He came with his wife, an advertising producer, and 12-year-old son.

The family had waited for two hours before entering the pavilion, he said. “The pavilion is beautiful. I am sure that the ideas shown at the Russian exposition will soon be fulfilled in real life,” Li said.

His son said he was impressed by the rich fantasy of the Russian children and by the cutting-edge developments at the pavilion. “When I come back home, I will draw my ideal city,” he said.

Russia constructed a pavilion at the exhibition for the first time in 30 years. The sun-shaped building comprises 12 white-and-gold towers symbolizing the 12 months of the year, and occupies an area of 6,000 square meters.

The 2010 World Expo is being held in Shanghai from May 1 to October 31, 2010. Over 200 states, corporations and international organization take part in the Expo. Over 48 million people have visited the event since its opening.
