Mikhail Pletnev, the leader of the Russian National Orchestra who is accused in Thailand of sexually abusing a minor, will open the second RNO Festival in Moscow on Monday, an RNO spokeswoman said on Sunday.

The festival runs through September 12 at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall.

"Pletnev will perform in Moscow on Monday and will remain here until the end of the festival," Svetlana Chaplygina said.

Under the conditions of his $9,000 bail, Pletnev is required to appear in person at a court in the Thai resort town of Pattaya every 12 days for a bail hearing. The terms of his bail do not prohibit him from traveling abroad, and he has toured Spain, Poland and Switzerland with the orchestra.

Pletnev was charged in July with sodomizing a 14-year-old boy. If he is found guilty, he would face up to 20 years behind bars. He denies all charges against him.

The Russian musician, who established the RNO in 1990, owns a small property in Pattaya and spends several weeks there each year.
