Russia's Elena Dementieva advanced to the semifinals of the Pilot Pen tennis tournament in New Haven, Connecticut, with $600,000 of prize money up for grabs.
Dementieva, seeded 4th, defeated 6-seed Marion Bartoli of France 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in a match that lasted about three hours.
In her semifinal match Dementieva will play against top-seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark, who earlier knocked out Italy's Flavia Pennetta to reach the semis.
Two more Russians will play each other in the other semifinal match and they are Nadia Petrova (seeded 8) and Maria Kirilenko.
